About Happy Paws

Happy Paws began in 2015 when a small group of volunteers started fostering rescue dogs and cats in their own homes. Today we are a registered not-for-profit shelter rehoming hundreds of animals each year across Brisbane and South-East Queensland.

Why adoption matters

Thousands of healthy pets are surrendered to shelters every year. Adopting instead of buying gives a deserving animal a second chance, reduces overcrowding in shelters, and helps stop unethical breeding practices like puppy farming.

Our purpose

  • Provide safe shelter, food, and veterinary care to rescued pets.
  • Match each animal to a responsible, loving family.
  • Educate the community about responsible pet ownership.
  • Reduce the number of homeless animals in our region.
  • Support low-income owners through our subsidised vet voucher programme.
